Here are some great shots, Courtesy of Steve Stathis, Owner of Boarders Surf Shop in Rockaway Beach. Pictures are of local Rockaway guys between 1967 and 1972. At the time, the surf was pretty good "uptown", all of the pics are west of B.119th. st. Notice how in 1972 the surfboards are about 2 ft. shorter than the boards in the pics just 5 years earlier. A few of these guys still live on the Rockaway peninsula, Steve is trying to get them back in the water. It would be great to see them back in the water surfing that "Old Skool" style
